Summary

The CountA Block book comes with numbers from 1-100 with board pages and it features cutouts in the shape of numbers. The book teaches children between the ages of two to five years old (2-5) how to count from 1-100 . It also teaches them how to quantities by number. For example, the numeral one is shown as well as one object to represent the number one. This book can  help children to identify each numeral and associate it with the amount it represents. The colorful illustrations captures the children's interest and it is appropriate for preschoolers up to grade on and it also teaches children their colors.

Classroom Ideas

  • This book can be used on the 100th day of school. It could be read during circle time and then in small groups the children can work on 100 days of school activities.
  • Add caption
    Number sense. This book can be read to children and they can use legos and put them in number order.
  • In arts and craft- teachers can numbered  construction paper squares with pipe cleaners attached at the top to the square. Children will then feed the number of beads on the pipe cleaner.

  1. Gwendolyn I enjoy reading your classroom ideas. Using this book to celebrate the 100th day of school while also re-enforcing that each number has a meaning is a great idea. You can do many activities with young children while they are in centers to emphasize order counting, and understand quantity.
