Summary: Are you looking for a book to teach sizes, speed, opposites, weight, and height? You found it!  This book is very diverse. Every page is illustrated with an animal of different species describing its characteristics (biggest, longest, etc). In addition on the bottom side of the page, there is a description of the animal’s physiology compared with humans. Through its pages you will find lessons on dimensions, motions, comparison, and opposites.

Classroom Ideas: This book is great to keep in the math area. Some ideas to implement in the classroom are: counting the animals on the story, compare their sizes, classify them. Create a graph on animal sizes, height, weight, etc. Using the ruler, students can look around the classroom for objects that have the same length as the animals in the story. Students can be measured (older students can measure themselves)and compare their height with the animals’. Students can measure their hands and compare them with the size of the small animals. Students can solve additions, subtractions, divisions, multiplications, using the animal’s weights and heights.
